If you've been a Minnesota resident watching Sonic commercials for years you'll be glad to hear that Elk River Minnesota is home to the first Sonic Drive In restaurant in Minnesota.  Located on Main Street in Elk River, Sonic is located next to the Super America where the old burger time restaurant was located.  While the Sonic in Elk River is a smaller version than you might have seen on TV, you can count on Sonic to deliver the best burgers, shakes and fantastic slushy drinks.  At this particular Sonic you'll have to eat in your car at one of 19 stalls or order take out as there is no indoor seating at the Elk River Sonic restaurant.

Update the Elk River Sonic is OPEN!  Expect to wait 20-30 minutes in the drive through however.  I've not eaten in the parking stalls yet but there is always a line.
